NV AG

Niederösterreichische Versicherungs AG is an Austrian insurance company with a strong local customer focus. It is currently undergoing a digital transformation, so asked us to audit their current website and offer feedback to make sure they maintain their approachability and regionality during this process. We helped them with a guiding core concept, wireframing, wireflow and design of the online insurance end product.

Challenge

Maintain a regional focus while expanding into the online world

One of the aims of the comprehensive visual rebranding was to extend its reach into younger generations. Another was to digitize the product offering by making sure products were available online, as well as through the company’s local branches. It was crucial to create a balance between a local and personal approach and a new modernized, digital online product offering. Home insurance was chosen for the first online insurance product onboarding because it is a widely needed and understood. The primary challenge for the insurance company here was to design a seamless flow that maintains a personal touch while still ensuring a smooth and user-friendly experience for all prospective customers – particularly in an industry where obtaining insurance is usually synonymous with excessive paperwork and its resulting frustration.

Flexibility and customer engagement are the guardrails

Given Niederösterreichische Versicherung’s long-standing commitment to being a trusted, local partner for its regional clients, it was important for us to develop a solution that ensures customers feel secure and individually attended to. And also one that provides absolute flexibility when people select their insurance product. From the landing page forward, the customer journey must be a captivating, enjoyable and informative experience for all, in particular for the younger target demographic.

Product Strategy

Keep it playful, light and personal

To achieve this aim we opted to create a user-friendly wizard that guides customers through a series of easy-to-follow questions so that they can find the best fitting home insurance product. We also introduced a reward system in the form of a dynamic, evolving illustration so as to maintain customer engagement throughout the entire journey from start to finish.

Gamification

Creating your individual insurance journey

For the onboarding we created a gamified process that begins as soon as you start answering a series of engaging questions. Your responses immediately shape the illustrations before you. As you indicate whether you live in a rural area or a bustling city, the image adapts, reflecting your surroundings. Mentioning the size of your apartment, expands the illustated scene accordingly. As you select the services you want to add to your insurance, the illustration evolves, enveloping your home in a protective safety bubble, tailored just for you.

Creative Process

Aligning with all departments to create the best insurance onboarding

We systematically introduced and refined the solution in bi-weekly meetings with the NV team, taking into account the specific requirements and needs of each department. We began with a wireframe and by the project’s conclusion had progressed to a fully realized prototyped.

Core values and engaging digital elements in tandem

It was important to stay true to its core values when designing the rebrand for the company and overseeing the digital transformation to its first fully digital insurance product. We successfully achieved this by implementing a customer-centric and engaging journey, which included wizards and interactive elements that help deliver a flexible and engaging solution.
